FEMD Reopens Road

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) has reopened the barricaded slip highway linking the Goodluck Jonathan Expressway with Ring Road II on the Galadimawa Interchange to ease visitors congestion.

The highway was barricaded on July 7, 2026, to mitigate flooding in the course of the wet season.

The Director of FEMD, Engr. Muhammad Dikko, on Tuesday, defined that the slip highway was reopened following the tip of the wet season.

“The onset of the rainy season in Abuja is usually in May, and the slip road is typically flooded every year, necessitating its closure,” he stated.

He added that the Federal Capital Development Authority and the Department of Development Control have been working to handle the environmental challenges chargeable for the recurring flooding.

“These agencies are proactive and are working towards a solution,” Dikko stated.

Also talking, an official of the event management division, Engr. Abdulkadir Musa, stated the elimination of the barricade was supposed to cut back visitors congestion on Ring Road II.

“With the opening of the slip road, all the traffic heading to Airport Road can now pass through,” Musa stated.

He assured that the reopened highway would ease visitors congestion from ISEX/S20, also called Oladipo Diya Way, the place building work has affected visitors motion.
