President Trump Warns That US Will Use Frozen Iranian Assets To Pay For Damage To Ships And Cargo

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Friday July 24, 2026, US President Donald Trump says the United States intends to use Iranian funds under Washington’s control to compensate for damage caused to commercial vessels and cargo during attacks in and around the Gulf.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump warned that any future losses linked to maritime attacks would be covered using frozen Iranian assets held by the United States.

“Please let this statement serve to represent, until further notice, that from this point forth, any and all damages done to Ships, Cargo, or anything related thereto, will be paid for by Iranian Money that the United States has in its possession, and controls,” Trump wrote.
