The Presidency has said the possibility of terrorists infiltrating Nigeria’s security agencies cannot be ruled out.
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, stated this while speaking on The Link Up Podcast, hosted by EchoRoom.

Responding to a question on whether the military had been infiltrated by terrorists’ agents, Bwala said there have been previous cases involving security personnel allegedly linked to terrorist activities.

According to him, the presence of a few compromised individuals within the military or the police is a possibility that exists in many countries.
Bwala noted that some soldiers and police officers had in the past been arrested over alleged connections with terrorism.
He added that the Federal Government has put measures in place to tackle the challenge but declined to disclose details, saying doing so could undermine ongoing security operations.
The presidential aide also cited the case of former United States intelligence contractor Edward Snowden to illustrate that security breaches can occur in any country’s security system.
