Police Staff College graduates 3 sets of senior officers

The Police Staff College Jos, weekend, 11th September 2026, marked a significant milestone in the continuous professional development of Nigeria Police personnel and other security agencies with the graduation and closing ceremony of three concurrent senior courses.
The ceremony was presided over by Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu PhD, NPM, ably represented by CP Aina Adesola who declared closed the Tactical Leadership and Command Course 24/2026, Operational Leadership and Command Course 12/2026, and Advanced Detective Course 80/2026.
A press statement by Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) for the college, CSP Duwon Amunedon, noted that the Commandant of the College, AIG Nnaghe Obona Itam, said the graduation represents more than the conclusion of three professional courses, but “a wholesome evaluation of the course objectives, commitment, delivery and participants’ assimilation levels.” He noted that the courses were designed to address different but complementary aspects of modern policing in response to increasingly complex security and law enforcement challenges confronting the nation.he said the Commandant explained that the Tactical Leadership and Command Course focused on developing multi-tasking and multi-agencies leadership competencies for pragmatic decision-making in complex and high-risk situations.
The Operational Leadership and Command Course was aimed at enhancing participants’ capacity in risk assessment, threat analysis and operational planning, while strengthening their ability to manage crises and command incidents effectively.
The Advanced Detective Course was designed to strengthen investigative capacity, evidence management and multi-agency collaboration in the investigation of contemporary crimes.
AIG Itam charged the graduands to apply their new skills with wisdom, courage and discretion. He stressed that leadership in policing “is not simply about occupying a position of authority. It is about the ability to influence, inspire, coordinate and guide personnel towards the achievement of lawful operational objectives.”
He urged them to prioritize teamwork, inter-agency collaboration, intelligence-driven operations, and to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and accountability.
He also reminded graduands of Advanced Detective Course that “the objective of investigation is not simply to secure an arrest. It is to establish the facts, identify the truth and provide credible evidence capable of supporting a fair and lawful determination of the matter.”
AIG Itam commended the Directing Staff, instructors and course coordinators for delivering on the objectives despite short notices.
He expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, through the DIG Department of Training and Development, for approving the concurrent running of the courses and introducing a novel series on the prevention and protection of child soldiers in crises.
The Commandant further thanked sister security agencies for their participation and urged the graduands to remain worthy ambassadors of the Police Staff College, Jos.
In his remark, CP Adesola congratulated and lauded the graduands for enduring the rigorous phases of the training and  the Commandant for his exemplary leadership and dignity.
He charged the officers to translate the knowledge gained into service, noting that their major responsibility after the course is to remain loyal to the Nigerian Nation, the Nigeria Police Force, and themselves. He stressed that they must uphold the image of the Nigeria Police through fairness, honesty, impartiality and strict respect for human rights.
He further admonished the graduands to eschew brutality and inhuman treatment of members of the public. He urged them to carry themselves in high  esteem and to exhibit love, kindness and integrity in the discharge of their duties at all times.
