Police rescue 75 kidnap victims in Kaduna state
Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have rescued 76 kidnap victims in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state, following tip off.
The command on August 19, 2026, at about 1730hrs received credible information from the NURTW, Birnin Gwari Branch, that some Fulani men, women, and children traveling in commercial buses were abducted by unknown armed men wielding AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons at Folwaya Village, near Birnin Gwari.
The abductors took the victims into the forest and concealed them in a cave within a mountainous area. Upon receipt of the information, a crack team from the Birnin Gwari Area Command was immediately deployed to the location.
On sighting the well-armed Police operatives, the abductors fled, abandoning their captives, who were successfully rescued unharmed.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has commended the NURTW, Birnin Gwari Branch, for providing timely and vital information. He also applauded the Area Commander, Birnin Gwari, and his operatives for their swift and professional response.
The CP urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the Police. He further cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands, noting that such actions could lead to the loss of innocent lives.
