Police K!ll Two Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Weapons in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has neutralised two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle along Eziowelle Road in Idemili Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a statement on Wednesday that operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, engaged the suspects after receiving credible intelligence.

On sighting the police team, the hoodlums reportedly opened fire, sparking a gun duel that lasted several minutes.

Two suspects sustained fatal injuries, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

Recovered items from the scene included:One AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing four live roundsOne pump-action gun, Five live cartridges.

Ikenga noted that the operation was part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts against kidnapping, armed robbery, and violent crimes across the state.

He added that investigations are underway to track down fleeing gang members.

Commissioner of Police Nnanna Oji Ama reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents.
