Police arrest 150 suspects, recover 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspected criminals and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property and illicit drugs during a major security operation carried out across criminal hideouts in the state.

This was contained in a statement on Monday by the command’s spokesperson SP, Adebisi Abimbola.

According to her, the operation conducted under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Okofilling bus stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis, adding that the raid was carried out at about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday following credible intelligence.

She said the coordinated operation involved a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Lagos State Police Command and was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorising the affected communities.

“Items recovered during the operation include 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel short gun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and various quantities of illicit drugs,” she said.

The police spokesperson disclosed that all the suspects are currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual involvement in criminal activities.

She added that suspects found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE across the state.

He said the operation is designed to deny criminals safe havens and strengthen public safety through intelligence-led policing and continuous clearance of criminal hideouts.

The Commissioner also appealed to residents to support the Police by providing timely and credible information that would assist in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and improving security across Lagos State.
