PDP’ll be on ballot in 2027, Turaki assures

After an emergency meeting that lasted for over one hour Thursday, the Interim National Chairman of the Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has boasted that his faction will be on the ballot come 2027, adding: “Nobody, and I dare say, nobody can kill the PDP. PDP will continue to live,” he declared.
He said despite challenges confronting it presently, the PDP, Turaki maintained shall be on the ballot and participate fully in the 2027 general elections.
Turaki, who was speaking at an emergency stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja, assured party members that internal wrangling plaguing the party are not as severe as previous ones.
“There may be challenges here and there regarding the leadership of our party but for us in the PDP, it is not new. We will overcome. We shall overcome. We are overcoming,” he was quoted as saying.
Going back memory lane, he said the party had in the past survived an internal leadership crisis that culminated in the inauguration of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committe and is still united.
Many of the crises affecting opposition political parties in the country, he alleged further, could be traced to the ruling party.
The party leader insisted that no individual or group could destroy the PDP.
The secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Babandiga Aliyu, commended Turaki for standing his ground and for following everything legally and legitimately.
