Pakistan Cargo Aircraft From UAE To Karachi Goes Missing With Five Aboard Over Arabian Sea

A Pakistani cargo aircraft with five crew members vanished on Tuesday while traveling from the UAE to Karachi, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority. Communication was lost roughly 155 nautical miles west of Karachi at around 9:22 PM.

Karachi: A Pakistani cargo aircraft with five crew members onboard went missing on Tuesday evening, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said. The plane was enroute from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Karachi. After receiving the information, a search and rescue operation was launched by enroute Pakistani agencies.

As per the PAA, the aircraft lost communication approximately 155 NM west of Karachi at around 9:22 PM. In an X post, it said that a K2 Airways B737 Pakistan Cargo flight enroute from Sharjah to Karachi reported a navigational system issue at 9.18 pm Tuesday and was promptly guided by Karachi Area Control Centre (ACC).

“However, at 9.22 pm, the aircraft was observed on radar rapidly descending with a rapid heading change. Subsequently, radar contact and communication were lost approximately 155 NM west of Karachi,” the PAA further stated.

As per the authority, after the plane went missing over the Arabian Sea, the Rescue Coordination Centre was was activated and a coordinated search and rescue operation at sea was launched through various agencies to locate the missing aircraft.

The PAA did not reveal the identity of the crew members. “Following the occurrence RESCUE COORD CENTRE has been activated and coordinated Search & Rescue launched at sea through various agencies to locate the missing aircraft,” the authority said in one of its X post.

The cause of the incident is also not known. A detailed investigaton has been laucnhed into the matter.
