Osun election: Ethnic youth leaders pass vote of confidence on INEC chairman Amupitan

Socio clutural groups, Ethnic youth leaders have passed a vote of confidence in the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, following the successful conduct of the Osun State gubernatorial election.

The youth leaders described the conduct of the election as a significant indication of the INEC Chairman’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process and restoring public confidence in the nation’s electoral system.

In a statement signed by the Joint Convener, Mallam Kabiru Yusuf, the ethnic youth leaders said Prof. Amupitan had demonstrated professionalism, courage and commitment to electoral integrity since assuming office.

They noted that the Osun governorship election provided another opportunity for INEC to demonstrate its preparedness to conduct credible, transparent and peaceful elections come 2027, adding that the outcome had further strengthened confidence in the Commission.

According to the group, the performance of the INEC Chairman in Osun has earned him greater confidence among Nigerians, particularly young people who remain critical stakeholders in the country’s democratic development.

The ethnic youth leaders commended INEC officials, security agencies, election observers, political parties and voters for their roles in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the election.

They urged Professor Amupitan to sustain the momentum and continue to pursue reforms that would make Nigeria’s electoral process more transparent, inclusive and credible ahead of future elections.
