Okpebholo Names Edo’s First Visually Impaired Permanent Secretary

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Melody Omosah as the state’s first visually impaired permanent secretary.

Okpebholo announced the appointment on Friday while swearing in two commissioners, 20 permanent secretaries and members of the Governing Council of the Edo State College of Health Sciences and Technology.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the governor described Omosah’s appointment as a landmark achievement, saying it underscores his administration’s commitment to inclusion and equal opportunity.

According to him, the appointment demonstrates that competence, ability and character, rather than disability, should determine access to public service.

The governor also announced the appointment of Martin Oli, a member of the Igbo community, as commissioner.

He said the appointments reaffirm his administration’s resolve to build an inclusive government where merit takes precedence over ethnicity, background or personal connections.

Okpebholo added that his government would continue to create opportunities for qualified individuals, irrespective of their background, as part of efforts to build a more inclusive Edo State.
