Nigeria has recorded a major academic milestone after two pupils won gold medals at the 2026 International STEM Olympiad Grand Finale held in Rome, Italy, outperforming competitors from more than 150 countries.

Don Anele Munachimso clinched the gold medal in the Science category, while Egejurum Onyedikachi Ethan secured gold in Mathematics and was crowned the World’s Best in Mathematics (Primary Category).

The Nigerian pupils earned their places at the global championship after emerging among the top performers at the Southeast Mathematics Olympiad, qualifying to represent the country on the international stage.
