The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of online registration for special skilled men and women under the 92 Regular Recruits Intake, 92RRI, Recruitment Exercise.

The Army said the online registration officially commenced on September 16, 2026, and will remain open until October 21, 2026, giving interested applicants a defined period within which to submit their applications.

The recruitment is specifically designed to attract Nigerians with specialised technical, marine, engineering and vocational skills that could be useful to the Nigerian Army.

Specialised skills sought

According to the Army, the recruitment is open to categories of applicants including boat operators, marine mechanics, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers.

Other technical apprentices with relevant skills are also eligible to apply, as the Army seeks candidates with practical and technical capabilities for the exercise.

The inclusion of marine-related skills such as boat operation and marine mechanics is expected to provide an opportunity for Nigerians with experience in specialised maritime and mechanical fields to pursue a career in the military.

Eligibility requirements

The Army stated that applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth to qualify for the recruitment exercise.

It further specified that candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old as of October 21, 2026, which is the closing date for the online registration.

Prospective applicants are therefore expected to ensure that they meet the citizenship and age requirements before submitting their applications.

The Army also advised applicants to provide accurate information during the registration process and comply with the requirements stipulated for the 92RRI exercise.

Application deadline

With registration scheduled to close on October 21, 2026, eligible Nigerians interested in joining the Nigerian Army through the special skilled recruitment exercise have until the stated deadline to complete the online process.

The Army’s announcement provides an opportunity for qualified skilled workers and technical apprentices to seek enlistment through a recruitment exercise specifically covering specialised areas.

Army warns against payment

The Nigerian Army also issued a warning to members of the public regarding the financial aspect of the recruitment exercise.

It stressed that recruitment into the Nigerian Army is free, meaning applicants are not required to pay money to secure enlistment.

The warning is aimed at protecting prospective applicants from individuals who may attempt to exploit the recruitment process by demanding money or promising to influence their selection.

The Army therefore advised applicants to rely on official information and follow the prescribed recruitment process rather than dealing with intermediaries or individuals claiming to have the ability to secure recruitment slots.

The 92RRI recruitment exercise is part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to enlist eligible Nigerians, including people with specialised skills, into its ranks.
