NEPL/Seplat JV boosts academic excellence with N18m grants

‎The NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL)/Seplat Energy Joint Venture (JV) has awarded education infrastructure grants worth N18 million to three secondary schools that emerged outstanding at the 2026 edition of its flagship PEARLs Quiz Competition.

‎Notre Dame College, Ozoro, Delta state, receive N10 million as the overall winner, while Henson Demonstration School, Benin City, was awarded N5 million for placing second, while  Lumen Christi College received N3 million for emerging third in the competition.
‎The PEARLs Quiz Competition attracted 476 secondary schools from Edo and Delta states, with participants showcasing academic excellence, innovation, confidence and character throughout the various stages of the contest.
‎Speaking at the grand finale, Chief Operating Officer of Seplat Energy Plc, Mr. Samson Ezugworie, said the joint venture’s educational interventions are aimed at addressing foundational learning gaps and creating opportunities for students and institutions to succeed.
‎Ezugworie said, “the initiative goes beyond conventional educational support designed to strengthen the education sector and equip young people with the skills needed to compete globally.”
‎ Managing director of NEPL, Mr. Nicolas Foucart, represented by Olubukonla Oyegbami, commended the partnership behind the programme and encouraged participants to focus on the knowledge and experience gained from the competition.
‎The director, External Affairs and Social Performance, Seplat Energy Plc, Mrs. Chioma Afe, described PEARLs as one of the joint venture’s most impactful educational initiatives since its inception in 2012.
