“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm,” the organisation stated.

Miss Universe Jamaica said she would “never be forgotten.”

LaToya emerged as one of the competition’s stand-out contestants when she vied for the prestigious crown in the 2024 pageant, while mourning the death of her father.

She went on to claim the Miss Jamaica Bikini International title and honoured her dad’s memory with an emotional tribute.

LaToya was deeply committed to the Transition Project, an initiative that supports disadvantaged teenagers as they prepare for adult life.

Gabrielle Henry, the current Miss Universe Jamaica titleholder, was amongst those honouring her memory.

She described LaToya’s death as “a great loss” whose impact and voice “will not be forgotten.”
