Meghan Markle Won't Join Prince Harry at Any Public Events During His UK Trip, Says Report

Meghan is no longer expected to attend any public events during Prince Harry’s UK visit this week, including a previously possible appearance at the Invictus Games event in Birmingham.

Meghan Markle will not be showing up at any of this week’s public engagements tied to Prince Harry’s visit to the UK. It was already known that Meghan and the couple’s children, Archie and Lilibet, wouldn’t be joining Harry for the early part of the week. That decision came after a disagreement over security arrangements. Even so, there was still talk that she might turn up later, particularly for an Invictus Games event scheduled for Friday at the NEC in Birmingham.

That possibility now appears to be off the table.

This adds yet another layer of uncertainty to what has been a chaotic trip, one that was originally meant to spotlight the Invictus Games, a competition for injured service members that Birmingham will host next year.

Her team isn’t commenting on whether any private meetings are planned, so it’s still possible King Charles could see his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, during a private visit alongside Harry and Meghan.

Things didn’t smooth out from there. Tuesday’s opening event, meant to promote the Invictus Games, ended up overshadowed by news that Harry had lost his court case against Associated Newspapers, with all of his claims over unlawful information gathering rejected. A London event that followed was then shut to the press entirely.

There was a brighter moment on Thursday, when Harry received a warm reception during a visit to a children’s hospital in Birmingham, suggesting the trip might be finding its footing. With Meghan now not expected at any remaining engagements, it looks like Harry will be handling the rest of the stops in Birmingham and the Midlands solo.
