Lagos police raid cult hotspot, arrest suspect, recover pistol
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol during an operation at Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin.
A statement by the command said the arrest followed credible information received by the command about cult-related activities in the area, prompting police operatives to deploy a surveillance team to the location.
The operation led to the arrest of one Segun Alani, who was found in possession of a bag containing the firearm.
According to the command, the pistol was concealed inside the bag carried by the suspect when he was arrested.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody and providing useful information to aid the investigation,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP, Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved in the operation for their prompt response and intelligence-driven approach.
He reaffirmed the command’s determination to disrupt cult-related activities and recover illegal firearms across the state.
The police commissioner also warned cultists and other criminal elements to abandon their activities or face the full force of the law.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police to enable prompt intervention through the Command’s emergency lines.
