Kebbi police arrest Nigerian wanted for murder in Niger

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a Nigerian fugitive wanted in Niger Republic for allegedly stabbing his business partner to death.

The fugitive, identified as Mas’udu Saidu, was arrested in Gulma Town, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Kebbi Police Command spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

Usman said Saidu allegedly used a knife to stab his 38-year-old Nigerian business partner, Mas’udu Sani, to death in Niger Republic.

He said the suspect fled Niger and returned to Nigeria after the alleged murder in an attempt to evade arrest.

Following his declaration as wanted by the Nigerien authorities, the Nigerian Police commenced a search for him, leading to his arrest in Kebbi State.

“Yes, we have arrested a fugitive wanted in the Niger Republic for stabbing his business partner to death in the Niger Republic. We are currently investigating him,” Usman said.

The police urged Nigerians living abroad to conduct themselves responsibly and avoid actions capable of damaging the country’s image.

The command also warned that suspects cannot evade the law indefinitely, regardless of how long they remain in hiding.
