Kaduna Police rescues 2 kidnap victims, neutralise suspects in Ikara operation

The Kaduna state Police Command has confirmed that its operatives rescued two kidnapped victims and neutralised two suspected kidnappers during a clearance operation in Ikara Local Government Area (LGA)?of the state.

In a statment by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command said the operation was carried out on September 8, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m., following credible information about suspected kidnappers operating around Auchanawa and Wambai areas.

He said the DPO of Ikara led a team of police operatives, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Service and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), to the identified location. On arrival, the security team engaged the criminals in a gun duel.

According to the statement, the operatives successfully cleared the surrounding bushes and dismantled the kidnappers’ camp. Two kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt, while two suspected kidnappers were neutralised. Several others fled into the surrounding bushes with possible gunshot wounds.

Sadly, three members of the CJTF lost their lives during the operation, while two police officers sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical attention.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna state command, CP Muhammad Rabiu, extended his condolences to the families of the fallen CJTF members and wished the injured police officers a speedy recovery.

He further called on members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police, assuring that clearance operations would continue until criminals are completely dislodged from their hideouts.

The command said it remains resolute in its determination to protect lives and property and restore lasting peace and security across the state.
