Kaduna: Foundation honours Defence Minister Musa for youth mentorship

The Naomi Stephen Children Foundation has honoured the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.), for his contributions to youth mentorship and development in Kaduna.

Musa received the Guardian of Peace and Youth Mentor Award during the maiden edition of the Kaduna Summer Children’s Party and Talent Show held at Stemar Pinnacle Event Centre, Gonin Gora.

The event, themed “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders Through Play and Creativity,” brought children together for games, talent displays, paper presentations and other activities aimed at encouraging creativity and confidence.

The Chairperson of the Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), Kaduna state chapter, Mrs Victoria Panam Musa, was also honoured with the Pillar of Unity, Progress and Child Advocacy Award.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Victoria Musa said children needed opportunities to play, socialise and develop their talents, stressing that raising responsible children was a collective responsibility.

The guest lecturer, Dr Alabi Usman Dauda of Kaduna Polytechnic, said play and creativity were important to developing children’s confidence, problem-solving abilities and leadership skills.

Coordinator of the foundation, Comrade Shedrack Ovye Anzaku, said the organisation had, since its establishment in 2020, undertaken programmes including feeding initiatives for children, hospital visits and support for orphanages.

He said the foundation would sustain the summer party and expand its programmes aimed at educating, entertaining and developing children.
