INEC announces media accreditation for September 19 2026 bye-elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of online accreditation for journalists and media organisations intending to cover the bye-elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, 19 September 2026.

A statement by the office of the Director of Information and Voter Education, urged media organisations interested in deploying journalists and other relevant personnel to cover the elections, to apply through the INEC Media Accreditation Portal (IMAP):

The statement said, “the portal opens today, Monday, 24 August 2026 and will close on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at 12:00 midnight.”

The statement further read: “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) hereby announces the commencement of online accreditation for journalists and media organisations intending to cover the bye-elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, 19 September 2026.

“The bye-elections will be conducted in the following constituencies:Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye federal constituency, Gombe state; Disina state constituency, Bauchi state; Sakwa State Constituency, Bauchi State; Udu State Constituency, Delta State

and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, Kano state.”

“Interested media organisations are urged to apply promptly and ensure that all required information and documents are properly uploaded before the portal closes.”
