IED explodes on Dikwa–Marte road, troops find device on abandoned vehicle
An Improvised Explosive Device, IED, has exploded along the Dikwa–Marte road in Borno State, with troops of Operation HADIN KAI later discovering the device on an abandoned vehicle near a bridge.
The explosion occurred at about 7:20 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2026, along the Dikwa–Marte Main Supply Route, where troops of the 50 Task Force Battalion were conducting operations.
According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, troops discovered the remains of the detonated IED at about 10:30 am on Monday, August 25, during route-scanning patrols.
“The troops reportedly found the detonated IED primed on the carcass of an abandoned vehicle close to the bridge along the route,” Makama reported.
The report stated that the troops immediately secured the area and commenced security measures to prevent any further threats along the route.
