How Tinubu’s strategic measures ‘re taming insecurity in Benue – Rep Ugbor

The member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Terseer Ugbor, on Sunday credited President Bola Tinubu’s security interventions with improving safety in parts of Benue state, saying the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 5 Division Headquarters and the deployment of a battalion to Jato-Aka have significantly curtailed insecurity in the area.
Ugbor stated this in an interview with journalists during an interaction with constituents, where he also expressed optimism that the proposed state police system would further strengthen community policing and enhance security across Benue state and the country.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker also threw his weight behind President Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing reforms such as local government autonomy, the student loan scheme, infrastructure development and increased federal allocations to states, while urging the Benue state government to prioritise education, human capital development and youth empowerment.
He welcomed the official affirmation of his victory at the primaries and publication of his name by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the APC candidate for the forthcoming National Assembly election, describing it as a historic milestone.
The lawmaker said priority would be given to completing major projects, including the Technology Incubation Centre, the approved National Open University campus, the Federal Medical Centre, a comprehensive healthcare centre in Turan, Jato-Aka, a modern primary school with staff quarters and a ₦1 billion bridge project, which he described as the largest constituency project ever approved for the area.
He added that his office had provided 17 motorised boreholes, rehabilitated about 20 hand-pumped boreholes, powered some communities with electricity, carried out agricultural empowerment programmes and supplied fertilisers, herbicides and training to farmers to improve food production.
He thanked his constituents for their support and appealed to the electorate to return him to the National Assembly, saying a second term would make him a ranking lawmaker with greater capacity to attract more federal projects to the constituency.
