Greece horror as two tourists hurt in stabbing attack at the Acropolis, Athens

Two American tourists have been injured after a knife attack in Athens, Greece, on Tuesday. A man has been arrested following the incident, which occurred at the southern entrance to the archaeological site at around 8.30am, opposite the Acropolis Museum.

The Greek state broadcaster said the suspect brandished the knife, injuring the couple – one seriously in his leg and the other in her hand. The male victim is being treated at the Red Cross Hospital.

A passerby called the police and officers arrested the suspect, who is believed to have psychological issues, when they arrived on the scene.

An EKAB ambulance was also called to the scene to provide first aid to the injured.
