Governor Siminalayi Fubara to Present 2026 Budget Today
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly today, July 10, 2026.
This follows the governor’s presentation last week of the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), which the Assembly approved within 24 hours, clearing the path for the main budget proposal.
Fubara is expected to appear before the lawmakers at the Assembly Quarters Auditorium, their temporary sitting venue since the original legislative complex was damaged during the political crisis that engulfed the state nearly three years ago.
A Government House source confirmed that preparations are complete for the morning presentation, describing it as a long-awaited milestone.
The budget presentation has been delayed by the prolonged rift between the governor and the Assembly. Some stakeholders previously noted that a budget had already been approved at the federal level during the period of emergency rule in the state, arguing that a new one was not immediately due.
The anticipated presentation is widely seen as a positive sign of improving relations between the executive and legislative arms following recent reconciliation efforts.
