Fidan hails ‘highly productive’ Ukraine visit as Türkiye deepens strategic partnership

Türkiye and Ukraine are strengthening their strategic partnership despite the ongoing war, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said following what he described as a “highly productive” visit to Kiev focused on bilateral ties, trade and regional security.

In a statement on X on Friday, Fidan said he held comprehensive talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, covering the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine waras well as ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.

“We are very pleased that cooperation between our countries continues to deepen despite the conditions of war,” Fidan said.

He welcomed Ukraine’s parliamentary approval of the Türkiye-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement ahead of his visit, describing it as a major milestone that will create new opportunities for businesses and significantly advance bilateral economic relations.

During the visit, Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while reiterating Ankara’s readiness to back initiatives aimed at bringing Russia and Ukraine back to the negotiating table.
