The Police have debunked a viral publication alleging the Command confirmed a report that young people residing around Nyanya area of the FCT have sold their kidneys for money, and that an agent in Mararaba was purchasing human parts.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, Wednesday in Abuja, said: “The FCT Police Command is aware of publications circulating on social media alleging that the Command has confirmed reports that young people residing around Nyanya area of the FCT have sold their kidneys for money, and that an agent in Mararaba is purchasing human kidneys.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that it has neither received nor confirmed any report of such nature, and no statement or communication to that effect has emanated from the Command.
“The Command therefore urges members of the public to disregard the said publication and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing unnecessary fear, panic and apprehension among residents.
“The Command, however, encourages anyone with information regarding the alleged human organ trafficking, or any other security concern within the FCT, to promptly report same to the nearest Police Station or contact the FCT Police Command via: 07038979348, 08028940883,” she added.
