FCT: Kuje LG chair Shekwolo decries decay in public facilities
The executive chairman of Kuje area council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has undertaken an inspection of public facilities across the area council, while expressing concern over the deteriorating condition of some government infrastructure and calling for urgent measures to restore them to functional use.
The inspection forms part of the administration’s ongoing assessment of public infrastructure and its commitment to improving service delivery and ensure that government facilities are put to maximum use for the benefit of residents.
During the inspection Wednesday, the chairman expressed disappointment over the level of decay observed in some public facilities, particularly structures that have the potential to provide essential services to communities if properly rehabilitated, maintained and equipped.
Hon. Shekwolo stated that government cannot afford to allow public infrastructure to deteriorate when such facilities are required to meet the healthcare, educational, administrative and social needs of residents.
He directed relevant officials to document the condition of the facilities, identify immediate maintenance needs and develop appropriate recommendations for rehabilitation and improved management.
The chairman restated that his administration would prioritise projects and interventions that have direct impact on the lives of residents, while also ensuring accountability, proper supervision and value for public resources.
Hon. Shekwolo further called on residents and facility users to protect public assets, adding that sustainable development requires a shared responsibility between government and the people.
