Ex-IGP Adamu empowers local farmers in Nasarawa

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has distributed agriculture inputs to local farmers in Nasarawa state.

He said the initiative was part of his efforts in supporting farmers to boost local agricultural products and ease rural distribution across the state.

Items distributed include 100 tricycles, 200 soil trilling machines, 2500 herbicides, 12,000 liquid organic fertilizers, 1,500 bags of NPK, and Urea fertilizers, 500 Nkeplack sprayers among others.

“We have to support the farmers, we have to capacitate our farmers and we have to modernise our farming methods,” the former IGP said.

“We know the government is trying its best to provide to the people of Nasarawa stat but we know they will never be able to do for every body, so let them no think that we are competing with them, NO, we are only contributing our own quoter”.

He said the intervention was strategically targeted across three vital pillars, beginning with agricultural revitalization and food security across 59 electoral wards in Nasarawa West Senatorial District.

“What you are seeing today is for the Nasarawa West zone, we are going to do the same in Nasarawa North zone and we shall do the same in the Nasarawa Southern zone,” he said.

He promised to also replicate the same gesture for the small scale business women and youths in the state.

“The agricultural support program is directly targeted to build youth capacity and economic self-reliance by distributing cash grants of ₦100,000 each to 5,000 young entrepreneurs across the state to help launch micro-enterprises, scale existing businesses, and foster economic independence.

“Additionally, essential food items and humanitarian relief materials were distributed to less-privileged and vulnerable families state-wide, ensuring that basic human needs are met with dignity and care,” he said.
