Ex-Benue Assembly Majority Leader Quits APC

Former Majority Leader of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly, Saater Tiseer, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing injustice and impunity within the party’s state chapter.

In a resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Mbaanyam Ward, Ushongo Local Government Area, Tiseer announced his immediate withdrawal from the party.

He recalled joining the APC during the 2014 merger from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), noting his membership registration under ID APC072205000345.

Tiseer, who represented Mbagwa Constituency and served as Majority Leader between June 2023 and September 2025, alleged irregularities in the April 2026 primaries.

He claimed to have won across all six wards of his constituency but said the party fraudulently announced another candidate.

Rather than pursue litigation, he said he chose to exercise his constitutional right under Section 40 of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of association.

“My interests and quest for justice can no longer thrive in the APC,” he stated, adding that he may seek alignment with another political party.

Despite his resignation, Tiseer expressed respect for the APC chairman, members in Ushongo LGA, and the party nationwide, wishing them well.

His exit comes amid growing discontent over primary election outcomes in several constituencies ahead of the next polls.
