Economic development: TEBA to award international organisations, expatriates, others

The Expatriates Business Awards (TEBA) is set to host the international business and diplomatic community at its third edition in Abuja.

The award is aimed at recognising the contributions of expatriate businesses, foreign missions, international organisations and migrant communities to the country’s economic development.

The Director of Awards, Odunola Abayomi, in a statement in Abuja, described the 2026 edition as a major step towards strengthening Nigeria’s engagement with the global business community.

She said TEBA had grown into Nigeria’s foremost platform for recognising expatriate investors, foreign missions, international organisations and migrant communities whose investments and partnerships continue to drive economic growth, create jobs and promote technology transfer across the country.

According to Abayomi, this year’s edition will honour individuals and organisations whose commitment to Nigeria has helped boost investor confidence while strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations.

She noted that the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs as Chief Host underscores the increasing importance of international partnerships in advancing Nigeria’s economic and development agenda.

Abayomi added that the awards have become a unique platform for promoting economic diplomacy, celebrating excellence and encouraging greater foreign participation in Nigeria’s investment landscape.

Abayomi said the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, would serve as host, while the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, PhD, is expected as the special guest of honour.

Also expected are the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mahmud Adam Kambari, diplomats, senior government officials, captains of industry, members of the diplomatic corps and business leaders from across the international community.

“TEBA has continued to position itself as Nigeria’s leading recognition platform for expatriate businesses and international stakeholders contributing to national development.

“The ceremony will feature the presentation of awards, cultural performances, networking sessions and entertainment designed to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage while fostering stronger partnerships between the country and the international community,” she said.
