Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, is not planning to dump the All Progressives Congress over the party’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, his camp has said.

In a statement issued on behalf of the former Speaker, Dr. Dominic Alancha dismissed reports making the rounds on some media platforms that Dogara was set to leave the APC.

Alancha described the reports as “false, baseless, and deliberately intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension.”

“Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara remains a committed and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He has neither resigned from the party nor expressed any intention to do so,” the statement read.

He added that the claims were the handiwork of “mischief makers seeking to sow division within the APC.”

According to Alancha, Dogara remains focused on working with party leaders and members to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Rt. Hon. Dogara is committed to supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ensuring the victory of the APC in the 2027 general election,” he said.

The statement further noted that the former Speaker’s priority is “promoting good governance, national unity, and the continued progress and prosperity of Nigeria under the leadership of the APC.”

Alancha urged the public and the media to disregard the reports and rely only on verified information from credible and official sources.

He also warned those behind the allegations to desist from spreading falsehoods capable of undermining the unity of the party.

“The APC remains united, focused, and determined to consolidate on its achievements while preparing for a successful outing in 2027,” the statement concluded.
