Denver Fire Today: Big Plumes of Black Smoke Seen Rising. Here's What We Know

A large fire sent thick black smoke over northern Denver on Friday morning, with residents sharing videos and reports online.

A fire was reported in Denver on Friday morning after social media users shared images and accounts of large plumes of black smoke rising from the northern part of the city. The Denver Fire Department had not issued an official statement at the time of writing.

One Reddit user described the scene, writing: “Just north of I-70, east of I-25. I’m on the opposite corner of that intersection, but I can’t see if it is a building or not. But the smoke is dark.”

Another user reported that the smoke appeared to be rapidly growing, posting: “Was just driving north on Broadway 2 mins ago and can report the smoke is now 3x that size.”

The cause of the fire and the exact location have not yet been confirmed. Authorities have not released additional information.
