Delta: Police arrest ‘gun runner’, recover ammunition, intercept adulterated beverages

The Delta state Police Command has recorded major operational breakthroughs in Agbor and Warri, with the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of ammunition and beverages suspected to be adulterated.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, said operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, arrested a 28-year-old woman, Happiness Clifford, over alleged involvement in gun-running activities.

SP Edafe said the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence on suspected ammunition trafficking in Agbor, Ika South local government area.

A search of her alleged hideout reportedly led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges concealed inside a bucket.

Command image maker said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition.

However, he said efforts had been intensified to apprehend Okoro, while investigation into the case continues.

Meanwhile, in Warri, operatives of SAKU intercepted a Toyota Sienna conveying quantities of “Gbefun Hot Drink,” suspected to be adulterated.

PPRO said the vehicle was intercepted on August 17, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri-Agbarho Expressway, leading to the arrest of the 44-year-old driver.

The command spokesman said further investigation by the operatives led them to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where additional quantities of the suspected adulterated drink and other beverages were recovered.
