Dele Momodu: Nigeria’s Worst-Ever Hardship, Insecurity Under Tinubu

Veteran journalist and Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, has described the current state of Nigeria as the most difficult period in its history, citing unprecedented economic hardship and insecurity under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking in an interview with journalist Rufai Oseni on Nevon Media, Momodu said the government has failed to show remorse or take responsibility for the suffering of citizens.

“These days, even for me to open some messages on my phone, I’m scared, because everyone is begging. The suffering of the people,” he lamented.

At 66, Momodu noted that his age gives him perspective on Nigeria’s past struggles, but insisted that nothing compares to the present crisis.

He criticised the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity, calling it the worst he has witnessed, and faulted Tinubu for poor communication with Nigerians.

“Insecurity has never been this bad. And I’m not seeing any sense of remorse or atonement,” he said.

Momodu argued that effective governance requires constant engagement with citizens, pointing to U.S. President Donald Trump’s regular press briefings as an example.

“If I was the president of Nigeria, number one, information is power. You must inform the citizenry every day,” he added.
