A civil society organisation, Youth Off the Street Initiative, has accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) and Enugu state governor, Peter Mbah, of a plot to truncate Uche Nnaji’s 2027 governorship bid.
Speaking during a world press conference in Abuja on Friday, the convener and president of the group, Comrade Kennedy Ijere, alleged political witch-hunt, abuse of power and threatened legal action against the ICPC.
Ijere accused the Commission of carrying out a politically motivated campaign against former minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, describing his arrest and continued detention as “a political witch-hunt.”
The group insisted that Nnaji’s detention was politically motivated rather than genuine anti-corruption concerns.
Ijere also claimed that the former minister, Nnaji, was detained so as not to meet up with the INEC deadline for the submission and upload of candidates’ documents.
