“Court Adjourns Blessing CEO’s ₦36m Fraud Trial Over Alleged Illness” — Medical Report Expected At Next Sitting

The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has adjourned the trial of social media influencer and relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, until Monday, July 20, 2026, following her absence from court over an alleged illness.

Blessing CEO is standing trial before Justice D.I. Dipeolu on a two-count charge filed by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of obtaining ₦36 million by false pretence and theft.

At the resumed proceedings on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the defendant’s counsel, P.I. Nwafuru, informed the court that officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service had notified him that his client was unwell and could not attend the hearing.

Nwafuru consequently sought an adjournment and assured the court that a medical report detailing Blessing CEO’s health condition would be presented at the next sitting.

Justice Dipeolu granted the application and adjourned the matter until July 20, 2026, for the continuation of trial.

According to the EFCC, Blessing CEO allegedly obtained ₦36 million from Mrs Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the false representation that she could lease a six-bedroom detached duplex in Lekki, Lagos, to her.

One of the charges reads: “That you, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, between July 14 and 17, 2024, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did obtain the sum of ₦36,000,000 from Mrs Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the false pretence of leasing a six-bedroom detached duplex situated at No. 1B, Tunbosun Osobu Street, Off Kuboye Road, Lekki, Lagos State, which representation you knew to be false, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.”

The anti-graft agency alleged that the influencer fraudulently collected the money by falsely claiming that she had the authority or capacity to lease the property to the complainant.

Blessing CEO has denied the allegations, which remain subject to determination by the court.
