Atiku teleguiding ADC NWC to replace Adamawa governorship candidate – Group alleges

  The lingering crisis rocking Adamawa state chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the choice of its 2027 governorship candidate has taken a disturbing dimension as some party stakeholders in the state have vowed to resist alleged conspiracy to replace the party’s candidate, Amb. Omar Sulaiman by the National Working Committee.

The group made their position known in a press statement made available to journalists in Yola on Tuesday, signed by their spokesman Bukar Dahi.

 They expressed concern over the unfortunate state of affairs in the party, warning that such misguided decision is capable of causing the party victory.

Dahi accussed the party presidential candidate,  former vice president Atiku Abubakar, of influencing and teleguiding the party National leadership led by Senator David Mark to replace the party’s candidate.

He further accussed Atiku of allowing ethnic and religious considerations to influence his political decision, stressing that the purported attempt  to substitute Sulaiman in favour of Atiku kinsman represents a dangerous departure from democratic norms and internal democracy which would not be tolerated.

 He  also accussed Mark of demonstrating weak leadership and jettisoning the party’s principle of fairness, equity and justice to all members.

The group expressed regret that at a time when election is drawing nearer, when the  party suppossed to be strategising on how to win election in 2027, ADC is increasingly being overwhelmed by internal disagreements.

 According to them, at the moment the party is facing governorship disputes in several states including Adamawa, Sokoto, Imo, Kano and Borno.

The ADC stakeholders also passed vote of confidence on Sulaiman, describing him as a competent and experienced politician with support based across the state.

 They warned that any attempt by the party’s national leadership to replace him will not argur well for the party in the state.,
