According to a report from NBC News, Milei is choosing superstition over spectacle, opting to watch the match from home instead of joining the crowd in person.

Milei has watched all seven of Argentina’s matches this tournament from home, and the team has won every single one. That perfect record is exactly why he’s not willing to change his routine now, especially with the biggest game of the tournament on the line. He plans to watch Sunday’s final between Argentina and Spain from Olivos, the presidential residence in Buenos Aires, just like he has all along.

He’s not just keeping the location the same either. Milei said he’ll also be wearing the same heavy jacket he’s worn throughout the tournament, treating it as a good luck charm he’s not willing to give up.

“No way,” he said. He confirmed he’ll be sticking to his usual spot at Olivos for every match, including this one.

Since then, no sitting Argentine president has attended a national team match in person, and Milei appears determined to keep that streak alive, along with his team’s, this Sunday.
