‘Aged 36,’ American Actress, Hayden Panettiere, Is Dead

Hayden Panettiere, the American actress best known for her roles in the television series Heroes and Nashville, has died at the age of 36.

Panettiere’s father, Skip, announced her death in a statement provided to ABC News on Sunday, describing the actress as an “incredible light” who brought joy to those around her.

No cause of death was immediately disclosed.

Panettiere began her career as a child actor, appearing in commercials and soap operas before gaining international recognition for her role as cheerleader Claire Bennet in the hit science-fiction series Heroes in 2006.

The role earned her three Teen Choice Awards and made her a household name.

She later starred as country singer Juliette Barnes in Nashville, where she performed several of the character’s songs. The series ran for four seasons on ABC before moving to CMT, while Panettiere received two Golden Globe nominations for her performance.

Her other film credits included Remember the Titans, I Love You, Beth Cooper and two films in the Scream franchise.

Panettiere had also spoken publicly about her struggles with alcohol addiction, depression and anxiety. She entered rehabilitation in 2015 while filming Nashville.

Her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, who was also an actor, died from a heart condition in 2023 at the age of 28.

Panettiere is survived by her daughter, whom she had with Ukrainian former professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
