Accord endorses Adeleke for re-election, calls for credible Osun Governorship poll

The national leadership of Accord has endorsed Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election in the August 15 governorship election.

The party urged residents of the state to vote for the incumbent to ensure continuity of what it described as his transformational leadership.

In a press statement issued on Monday in Abuja and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Barr Maxwell Mgbudem, said Governor Adeleke’s record in office had earned him widespread support and positioned him for victory at the polls.

The party praised the governor’s administration, citing infrastructure development, improvements in education and healthcare, workers’ welfare, security, and the provision of social amenities as evidence of his performance in office.

Accord also alleged that Adeleke’s administration had faced challenges arising from the withholding of local government federal allocations but said the governor had continued to deliver on his mandate despite the situation.

The party called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to remain neutral and impartial throughout the electoral process, stressing the importance of conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.

It emphasised that the sanctity of the ballot box must be protected and urged electoral stakeholders to ensure that every valid vote is counted and reflected in the final result.

Accord also appealed to voters to reject vote buying and other forms of electoral inducement, describing such practices as detrimental to democracy and the future of the state.

According to the party, the Osun governorship election will serve as an important test of INEC’s preparedness for the 2027 general election. It urged the electoral commission to thoroughly test its materials and systems to avoid operational failures on election day.

The statement concluded by expressing confidence in Adeleke’s re-election prospects and calling on Osun residents to support what it described as the continuation of good governance and democratic dividends in the state.
