25-Year-Old Stabbed To Death During Late-Night Fight In Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as “Dan Iya,” for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man, Mohammed Musa, to death during a fight in Bauchi metropolis.
The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, police received a report of culpable homicide following an altercation between Abdullahi and Musa.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that a fight ensued between one Abubakar Abdullahi aka ‘DAN IYA’ and Moh’d Musa, male, 25-years-old. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed the said Moh’d Musa,” the statement said.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a doctor on duty confirmed him dead.
Police operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division Township reportedly responded swiftly to the incident and arrested the suspect. The knife allegedly used in the attack was also recovered as an exhibit.
The victim’s body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, while Abdullahi remains in police custody.
The command said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served and urged residents to shun violence and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
