2027: You Have No Choice, I’ll Be Abia Governor – Doris Ogala

Doris Ogala, the Nollywood actress, has declared that she
will become the governor of Abia, insisting that residents of the state have
“no choice”.

 

Ogala emerged as the governorship candidate of the African
Action Congress (AAC) for the upcoming Abia election, where she will be
competing against incumbent Governor Alex Otti and other candidates.

The actress said she decided to run for political office
because of her desire to transform Abia. She argued that the state has failed
to realise its full potential despite the resilience of its people.

She pledged to rebuild infrastructure, empower young people
and restore the state’s pride if elected, describing her ambition as a
commitment to “liberate my people”.

“I am here today driven by a deep and unwavering resolve. My
conviction is my greatest strength, and it is firmly rooted in my belief in
liberating my people. I do not just desire power; I have a fierce, burning
passion for my state, ABIA, and I love my people,” she wrote.

“For too long, we have watched our potential go unrealised.
We have watched our infrastructure, our economy, and our communal dignity face
challenges. But I look at the resilience in our streets, our markets, and our
homes, and I believe we deserve better. We deserve a state that works for
everyone, from the bustling commercial hubs of Aba to the historic streets of
Umuahia.

“I know for sure that if I am elected the governor of my
state, ABIA state will be transformed. We will rebuild our infrastructure,
empower our youth, and restore the pride and prosperity of God’s Own State.

“This is not just a promise; it is a pledge to champion the
causes that matter most to you. Let us rise together to build a greater
future.”

In a live session on Sunday, Ogala expressed confidence that
she would become Abia governor, saying she believes “God has said it and so
shall it be”.

“Doris Ogala will be your governor; you don’t have a choice.
God has said it, so shall it be. It’s very simple; why don’t you get it?” she
said.

Ogala is being sued by Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain
of Liberty and Miracle Ministry.

She was embroiled in a controversy earlier this year after
alleging that she was in a relationship with Okafor from 2017 and ended her
previous marriage at his urging. She accused him of later betraying her despite
promising to marry her.

The actress demanded that he either marry her or pay
compensation, and later sought N1 billion in damages.

Amid the dispute, Okafor married Pearl, initially dismissing
Ogala’s reaction as “the devil’s anger”.

He later apologised and acknowledged their past relationship
before retracting the apology, claiming he had been under pressure.

Ogala is also facing a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by
Okafor.

She was arraigned on a four-count charge that includes
publishing personal materials without consent, spreading false information,
cyberbullying, and attempted extortion.

The case has been adjourned until October 2026.
