2027: Tinubu took money from Nigerians, gave it to govs – Melaye alleges
Former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has accused President Bola Tinubu of allegedly taking money from Nigerians and giving it to state governors.
Melaye made the remark while reacting to the ongoing debate on the removal of fuel subsidy by Tinubu’s regime.
The former lawmaker said the governors, who are benefiting from the proceeds of the subsidy removal, cannot guarantee the president’s re-election in 2027.
“You took money away from Nigerians in the name of subsidy removal and gave it to the governors in return for their votes and support.
“Now the election is almost here and you realised that the governors can’t deliver you, and you’ve now come back to ask Nigerians, the same people you took away monies from their pockets, to go and hold the governors accountable,” Melaye wrote on Facebook.
DAILY POST reports that there has been an intense debate on the subsidy policy as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, vowed to restore it if elected president in 2027.
