2027 elections: ADC condemns Adamawa for taking its candidate to court over campaign posters

Adamawa state chapter of the African Democratic Congress ( ADC) has condemned the decision by the Adamawa State Government to drag its 2027 gubernatorial candidate, Amb.Omar sulaiman to court over what the government called violation of environmental laws of the state.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the state government through the ministry of Environment  dragged the ADC candidate to Yola magistrate court  for allegedly violating environmental laws in the state through placement of campaign posters on public structures.

In a press statement made available to journalists in Yola on Wednesday and signed by the Director General of Umarana  campaign organization, Elder Mark  Wosi, expressed disappointment with the state government over the decision, describing it as laughable and political witch hunt aimed at distracting the party.

The party also questioned the state government’s motive of singling out its candidate for prosecution out of many other parties including APC.

The statement further expressed disappointment that at a time when citizens are yearning for solutions to unemployment, insecurity, infrastructures , health, education,  agriculture, youth employment and economic development the Fintiri’s administration has chosen to prioritise prosecution of its gubernatorial candidate.

According to him,it is equally disappointing that a ministry  charged with protecting the environment which   has in the last almost 8 years of this administration struggled to provide any semblance of solutions to the persistent challenges of indiscriminate waste disposal,,over flowing refused dumps,,poor sanitation, blocked drainages  and other environmental challenges  will be talking about environmental safety.

The party added that, no amount of legal proceeding, distractions and political witch hunt will prevent its candidate and the party from engaging the people of the state with his message of hope, responsible leadership and practical solutions to challenges confronting the state and urged all party members to remain calm and avoid indiscriminate placement of posters,banners, and other campaig  materials in public structures and private properties.
